The Zamojszczyzna region is an example of the brutal actions of the German occupying forces against the civilian population during World War II.

The displacement action of the inhabitants of the Zamojszczyzna region is an event from the Second World War, but also from the post-war period, which took place mainly between 1942 and 1943. It started on the night of 27-28 November 1942, but continued also in the post-war years, when numerous resettlement activities were carried out. The first displacement actually took place as early as November 1941, when more than 2,000 Polish peasants were expelled from the Zamojski district and replaced by German colonists.

Project Description

Showing the extent of damage to the inhabitants of the Zamosc region

We would like to present to you a portal, together with a mobile application, showing the scale of damages suffered by individual Polish citizens of the Zamość district during the German aggression and occupation during World War II 1939-1945. The project aims to show the scale of the phenomenon, but above all it provides an opportunity to analyse and check the situation by every inhabitant of the Zamość district whose family suffered harm during World War II. The project was possible thanks to the enormous work of the research team, which analysed thousands of documents and prepared detailed data under the direction of Professor Mirosław Kłusek, PhD, an employee of the Department of History of Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Sociology, University of Łódź. The following is a description of the research in question, showing individual damages suffered by Polish citizens of the Zamość district during the German aggression and occupation during World War II, which were verified, described in detail, and then ranked and presented in personal terms.

Methodology

Presentation of research results - calculation methodology

The project shows the damage caused during the Second World War, and the data obtained shows values from 1939-1945. However, in order to make the data readable and to place them in the contemporary world, we have converted these values into current values to show the true scale of the drama and clear values which can be claimed by Polish citizens whose families, from the Zamość district, suffered harm during that time. In this context, we provide you with the methodology, prepared by Professor Mirosław Kłusek, PhD, an employee of the Department of History of Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Sociology of the University of Łódź, for the valorisation into present values of the individual damage suffered by Polish citizens of the Zamość poviat during the German aggression and occupation during World War II, 1939-1945. At the same time, in the content of the project we present to you, we have already applied calculations and present data, valorised for the year 2023.

The aim of the project is to accurately determine the extent of the damage suffered by and residents of Zamojszczyzna during World War II and the German occupation.

To this purpose, we have collected information on the affected persons, the type of damage and its value.

The data compiled is of an integral nature, and the damages were originally on a monetary value according to the prices of September 1939, and then on a circulating value,

valid in the present day - currently the year 2023, and divided into three categories:

Intangible

Tangible

Damage in claims
